Glénac and La Gacilly have both received awards for being among the most beautifully flower bedecked towns and villages. A two flowers award for Glénac, and a four flowers one for La Gacilly.
You can discover the beauty of the streets and gardens and the floral contributions of these two communes by following the Road of Flowers. There are several circuits available, one of two kilometres that goes through Glénac and along the Mortier and another two kilometre one right through the heart of La Gacilly.
In La Gacilly, follow the greenery linig the roads and alleyways, lose yourselves in the backstreets and discover incomparable secret gardens in hidden corners.
Almost 650 window boxes and more than 130 flower tubs are needed for the summer flower displays. By following the route you will also discover the arts and crafts shops and be made to feel welcome by all our professionals.
In Glénac, admire the century old oaks, discover the Mortier, a recognized area of outstanding natural beauty full of animals and plants, with paths taking you through different wild flowers.
160 window-boxes and around 20 flower tubs are spread around the village to make it pretty as a picture postcard. You will be able to discover different varieties just by walking from the village along the rue du Mortier and down to small port.
THE NARROW STREETS AND ALLEYWAYS
The best way to discover La Gacilly is on foot, meandering around its labyrinth of flower-filled narrow streets and alleyways. You may come across the crafts men and women of the town around the Venelle des Fours, pop into the Salon de Thé (tea rooms) in the Venelle Marcel Boucher or quite simply soak in the beauty of the colours and scents of the flowers along the Venelle du Lihouet.
